Staying put feels safe. Same provider, same bill, no fuss.
The catch? Providers tend to save their best prices for new customers. Stick around long enough and you can end up paying a quiet extra for being loyal. We call it the loyalty tax. Here's what it is and how to dodge it.

This is a rough guide only, based on published Australian averages. It isn't financial advice or a quote. Your actual saving depends on your plan, usage and provider. For a real check, a person can review your actual bills.
how we got these numbers
We only use published figures, and we round your result to the nearest $10.
- Electricity: households on the same plan 3+ years pay on average $221 a year more than customers on new plans, according to the ACCC. The ACCC also found the average household could have saved $291 just by moving to their own retailer's best offer. If you say you're not on an old plan, the low end is $0.
- Mobile: Finder estimates Aussies spend $54 a month on average, vs about $42 a month for a month-to-month plan with 14GB+ data. We take the gap between what you pay and $42, per phone.
- Internet: we don't have a verified dollar figure, so we don't make one up. We do know 43% of Aussies have been on the same internet plan 3+ years, according to WhistleOut.
